Race Report: Bradfield Bash May 2021
I’m going to keep this brief, but as always, the most important thing to say is a massive thank you to our marshals – Chris, Julie, Holly, Mark, Leanne, Honey and Big Liz. We absolutely couldn’t do it without you!
The second installment of the Bradfield Bash was, once again, treated to lovely running conditions, despite what the weather forecast was predicting. While ground conditions were a little softer than Aprils race, the views on the the tops were still spectacular and the temperature was perfect.
Due, in large part to the recent rain (and possibly being distracted by the cute and curious sheep), the course was not as fast as last month and so both the male and female records remain unchanged. As many of you had suggested, we trialled setting runners off in waves based on their previous finish times. This was mostly successful, although we are going to have a play with the group orders ahead of next time to make sure the field doesn’t get too bunched up!
All four races of the bash make up the league, and you need to have run at least three of the four to be eligible. We currently have 25 runners who have completed two races, and a further 27 who have run one. All of you are in the running for league prizes if you complete another race or two! Medals will be given to everyone who has finished all four events.
There is a bit of time until the next event in August, which gives everyone time to practice their technical hill descents!
You can find all the race results here. The league table will be posted after the next race, so it might be all to play for in the final event!
